Lifetime Service Award
The purpose of the Lifetime Service Award is to honor the significant lifetime service of a RPUG member who has made lasting contributions to the road profiling community around the world.
Criteria for Award:
- Candidate has attended more than 10 annual RPUG meetings by the time he or she is nominated.
- Held elected office (Chair, Vice Chair, and/or Treasurer/ Secretary).
- Candidate’s sustained lifetime contributions (meant for an entire body of work, not just a single achievement) have been significant toward the advancement of roadway profiling on a national and/or international level. Contributions include, and are not limited to, services, publications, presentations, mentorship, research, education and training, innovative technology, and creative projects.
- Candidate is ending a distinguished career in engineering.
Award Guidelines:
- The candidates will be recognized in the profession and be leaders in the field. The RPUG Awards Committee is responsible for identifying, reviewing and recommending candidates to the RPUG Steering Committee for final approval.
- The Awards Committee members are not eligible for the award during their committee service.
- Candidates will be excluded from selection discussions.
- The Lifetime Service Award is given only when candidates clearly meet or exceed eligibility criteria, and once in a candidate’s lifetime.
Young RPUG Member Award in Memory of Dr. Starr Kohn
The purpose of this award is to recognize a young RPUG member who best exemplifies the principles and innovative applications of road profiling technologies of Dr. Starr Kohn who is remembered for his contribution and dedication to the road profiling community.
Criteria:
- The candidate must be a full time or part time student who is currently studying at a university for pursuing a master or Ph.D. degree in the area of civil or mechanical engineering by the time he or she is nominated.
- The candidate has made an excellent presentation at this year’s RPUG Meeting with a topic fitted into one of the major themes.
Selection Process:
- The RPUG Awards Committee is responsible for identifying, reviewing and recommending candidates to the RPUG Steering Committee for final approval.
- The Awards Committee members are not eligible for the award during their committee service.
- Candidates will be excluded from selection discussions.
Award:
- The recipient receives a personalized certificate that is suitable for framing and contains the signature of current RPUG Chair, together with a cheque of US$500.00 that will be presented to the recipient at the following year’s RPUG Meeting.
Outstanding Presentation Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who made an excellent presentation at this year’s RPUG Meeting.
Criteria:
- This award is given to individual(s) (maximum two individuals) who are recognized as best presenters by the RPUG Steering Committee and Award Committee through the selection processes.
- The topic and presentation materials must be related to the themes designed for the RPUG Meeting.
Selection Process:
- An Evaluation and Nomination form will be sent to all participants for nominating recipient candidates the end of presentation sessions.
- The RPUG Awards Committee is responsible for identifying, reviewing and recommending candidates to the RPUG Steering Committee for final approval.
- The Awards Committee members are not eligible for the award during their committee service.
- Candidates will be excluded from selection discussions.
Award:
- The award recipient(s) will be announced at the RPUG Meetings.
- Recipient of the award receives a certificate for excellent presentation, which is suitable for framing and contains the signature of current RPUG Chair.
RPUG 20NN Award
The purpose of this award is to give an individual who made significant contribution, service and dedication to this year’s RPUG.
Criteria:
- This award is given to one of the current RPUG Steering Committee members who are recognized with the RPUG 20NN Award through nomination and selection processes.
Selection Process:
- The RPUG Awards Committee is responsible for identifying, reviewing and recommending candidates to the RPUG Steering Committee for final approval.
- The Awards Committee members are not eligible for the award during their committee service.
- Candidates will be excluded from selection discussions.
Award:
- The award recipient will be announced at the RPUG Meetings.
- Recipient of the award receives a certificate for excellent presentation, which is suitable for framing and contains the signature of current RPUG Chair.
Letter of Appreciation
A letter of appreciation should be formally sent by RPUG Chair to local host organization and individuals for their support and services towards success of the meeting.
